Tenby Schools Setia Eco Gardens is comprised of Tenby International School Setia Eco Gardens which offers a British education up to the IGCSE level, and Sekolah Tenby Setia Eco Gardens which offers the Malaysian National Curriculum at the Secondary level. The school caters to students aged 3 to 17 years from around the world. The school is focused on the holistic development of the students that attend to become global citizens that have the skills and confidence to compete globally.

Purpose of Role

We are looking for a professional SEN Teacher / School Counselor to help students prepare for academic achievement and develop personal or social competencies through a comprehensive, preventive, and developmental counseling program. The goal is to ensure that students will become productive and well-adjusted adults.

ISP Key Responsibilities

  • Advises and counsels students regarding academic, educational, emotional, and social needs.
  • Remains universally accessible and tries to know every student for whom they are responsible.
  • Provides individual student planning through an individual learning plan to support students and their families regarding academic matters.
  • Teaches guidance classes and provides guidance counseling to students through planned activities in small group or classroom settings to convey educational, social, and important school information, and offers workshops/seminars for parents.
  • Consults, facilitates and maintains communication with parents, teachers, administrators, and pertinent agents on specific student and parent academic and educational matters including academic modifications and/or accommodations.
  • Provides feedback and recommend appropriate action and solutions to individual students’ academic and educational needs and abilities.
  • Assists students/parents in understanding school policies and procedures.
  • Provides brief counselling to address social and emotional concerns and appropriately refers students to behavioral health specialists.
  • Supports and attends appropriate student activities and events.
  • Develop a network with outdoor providers to support different needs.

Qualifications

  • A Degree in Counseling, preferably Master in Counseling.
  • Possess a license in Counselling by Lembaga Kaunselor.
  • At least 3 years of experience in counseling services.
  • Show knowledge and understanding of counseling principles, methods, and techniques.
  • Ability to listen attentively and comprehend with empathy without prejudice or judgment.
  • Ability to offer support to SEN students.
  • To provide strategies to help teachers meet the needs of students.
  • Good written and spoken communication skills, and being able to inform and advise clearly.
  • Good initiative and hardworking.
  • People-centered and friendly.
  • Team player.
